Operating Budget Process

Langara's budget process begins May 1st with the distribution of budget worksheets to Budget Officers, Program Managers or Directors depending on the area. The initial submissions are due back on June 30th.

Generally, Langara follows a Status Quo budget process, where departments are expected to manage within their existing budgets; any additions require approval by the Senior Leadership Team. A draft budget is presented to the Board of Governors in November and the final budget is approved in March.

Visit the Budget Planning section of the Financial Services Department for more information, including budget timelines for the coming fiscal year.

The Operating Budget page of this toolkit will further assist you in understanding and managing your budget.

Capital Budget Process

Concurrent with the operating budget process, a capital budget is developed by departments who have significant capital needs. Capital budget requests are also submitted to the Board of Governors for approval.
