Vancouver, Canada – This January, Langara welcomed 2,576 new and returning international students, including 800 who began their studies in the January term. The LEAP program also has 95 students who started their English language studies in January.

As a special welcome, 266 new students joined the International Education Department at International Student Orientation. The event gave new students a chance to meet other students, play games, and win prizes - including a $500 tuition credit.

“Attending the ISO has given me all the information about the campus, international department, academic grades, interacting with instructors, and support services offered,” said one student in feedback following the event. “It reminded me of my purpose in Langara and helped me to ensure that I am capable of fulfilling my dream,” said another student.

All students were invited to the Welcome i-Café for a snack and refreshment break during the second week at school.

A series of workshops are taking place in January to help students with the transition to academics at Langara. Workshops cover the following topics:

  • How to Stay Out of Academic Trouble
  • A+? Yes You Can!
  • Your New Life in Vancouver. “The Best Place On Earth”
  • Canadian Classrooms: Weird or Wonderful?
