Thirteen students from different cultures and countries went together on Sunday, October 20th for ice skating, an i-Sport event coordinated by members of the International Education Volunteer Program (IEVP).  This was one of many events coordinated by the IE Department for students to come and interact with the fellow students by spending some time together and taking part in fun activities.

All the students gathered at Langara College around 12:15 and from there, made their way to Hillcrest Community Centre in Vancouver.  After buying the tickets and putting on their ice skates, the students skated for about two hours.  Some already knew how to skate, whereas for many it was a brand new experience so they used chairs to help them move around the rink.  After certain trials and falls, everyone was confident enough to skate by themselves.

Overall it was a very exciting experience for everyone!  They enjoyed taking part in a new activity and made new friends in a place that is completely new for them. The IEVP volunteers were also very helpful in guiding and teaching the basics of skating.  Check out some photos of the event.  Be sure to pick up the November events calendar to find out about all the great activities and workshops taking place.  We hope you can join us next time!
