Honour Rob's contribution to journalism and help to establish a scholarship

Rob Dykstra dedicated much of his professional life to teaching generations of journalists - more than 1,000 in total. Rob retired from Langara in 2016 after 32-years, serving as an instructor, coordinator, and chair of the Langara Journalism program. He oversaw the introduction of new courses, launched the Langara Journalism Review, and taught most every course in the journalism program curriculum.

Rob has made a profound contribution to journalism and his legacy will always be the members of the media in BC and nationally who received the benefit of his knowledge instruction.

To celebrate and recognize Rob's accomplishments as an instructor, editor, and journalism professional, we want to establish a Rob Dykstra Scholarship. In honour of Rob's passion for long-form story-telling and feature writing, his scholarship will be awarded to the journalism student who writes the best feature story.
