Endowed award funds require that the gift be invested for a least one year before recipients are selected for an award. Donors may also choose to provide an additional contribution to begin the award without delay. You may choose to endow new awards at levels that substantially exceed the above minimums, keeping in mind the expenses students face annually for tuition fees, text books, and living expenses. As an alternative, you may initially establish an endowment at the above levels and then add to it over time to provide growing level of award support.

Endowed awards may take the following forms:

  • Scholarships - which recognizes outstanding students, who have achieved a high academic standing. They may be created to support students beginning their post-secondary education through entrance scholarships (based on high-school grades) or for their achievements within a specific department while attending Langara.

  • Busaries - which support students in financial need. They assist students with expenses as they pursue their academic program.

  • General Awards - which recognize non-academic achievements while at Langara or in the broader community in combination with demonstrated financial need.
