April received her BSc (hon) in Human Kinetics (French Immersion) from the University of Ottawa and is currently completing a PhD in Kinesiology at the University of British Columbia in Dr. Nicola Hodges’ Motor Skills Lab. Her graduate activities have included research internships at the Social Mind and Body Lab at the Central European University in Budapest, Hungary, as well as significant teaching responsibilities that include her role as TA Training Program Coordinator for UBC’s School of Kinesiology.
April’s research has focused on motor learning and control in a social context and has been funded by Master’s- and Doctoral-level SSHRC Canadian Graduate Scholarships. Her work has been presented at national and international conferences and has been published in such refereed journals as the Journal of Motor Learning and Development, the Journal of Motor Behavior, and the International Journal of Sport Psychology. April’s non-academic interests include recreational dancing, and she is a volunteer teaching assistant for “Dance for Parkinson’s Disease” classes.
