Each semester, Langara offers a variety of complimentary wellness classes to employees. This site provides a snapshot of existing and upcoming offerings, including details for registration. SPRING CLASSES

Registration will take place on Tuesday, January 16 at 12:30pm. Please read through the registration process thoroughly prior to registration to ensure that your request is considered. Wear comfortable clothes, bring your own mat and/or towel, and drink water! Participation is voluntary; registrants are responsible for ensuring their own safety. All levels of experience are welcome.

Registration Process

To register, send an email to wellness@langara.ca with:

  • Subject Line: (Name of Class) Registration.
  • Body: Full name, Employee ID, email address, any injury/illness you would like your teacher to know about, and your experience level.

You will receive a confirmation email within 24 hours. Seats will be filled on a first come, first served basis according to email time. Classes will be capped at 15 participants. Registration prior to the time and date listed will not be accepted. You may only register for one class per semester; however, you may request to join the waitlist for additional classes. We are unable to accommodate group registrations at this time - participants must register for themselves or have a colleague register for them in a separate email. 

Please make every effort to attend all classes and sign the attendance sheet each week. In consideration for waitlisted participants, all registrants who miss more than two classes will forfeit their spot. If you need to withdraw from a class, please contact wellness@langara.ca

Core Fundamentals Tuesday, January 23 - February 27

6 week series

Time: 4:30-5:30pm

Room: G103a

Teacher: Jonelle Young

This class will focus on engagement and activation of the core musculature. Learning to utilize not only your abdominals, but also the underused core muscles on the back side of your body, you will notice a difference in strength and posture, and possibly a decrease in neck strain or  back discomfort. Be prepared to perform old favourites like planks and bridges. In addition, you will learn new exercises like founders and decompression breathing. Please bring a mat and prepare to exercise barefoot.

Yoga Fusion Wednesday, January 24-April 11

12 week series

Time: 5:00-6:00pm 

Room: C408

Teacher: Yvonne De La Roche

Build confidence, flexibility, and strength by uniting the body and mind. Classes will consist of deliberate stretching, conscious breathing, and sequenced poses; combined with guided relaxation to heighten self awareness. Affirmations, relaxation techniques and self-care tools are infused to provoke insights on and off the mat. Suitable for beginner and intermediate students.

Pilates Thursday, January 25-April 12

12 week series

Time: 4:00-5:00pm 

Room: G103a 

Teacher: Christie Stoll

Pilates is a total-body exercise system that requires no equipment. The principles of centering, breathing, and control are used to improve your posture, increase your core strength/ stability and tone your muscles. You'll feel relaxed and yet energized at the end of your session, without getting too sweaty. A perfect after-work exercise class!
