Educational Assistance

This option applies to employees wishing to enroll in a program related to their professional/ career goals and one which is congruent with the College's strategic direction and operational goals. To learn more, please review the 'Educational Assistance Policy' and the two accompanying documents, 'Educational Assistance Procedures and Decision Criteria' and 'Educational Assistance Application Form'.

Tuition Fee Waivers

Employees may request tuition fee waivers for both Regular Studies and Continuing Studies courses offered at Langara College. Some course offerings are excluded from this benefit option, such as on-campus courses hosted through external institutions. Langara CS at VSB courses are eligible for fee waiver. Registration may be subject to seat availability at the time of approval, not displacing a fee-paying student, or not resulting in additional cost. If approved, only tuition fees will be waived; employees will be responsible for other course-related costs and registration fees. In accordance with Canada Revenue Agency (CRA), all personal interest courses will be considered as taxable benefits. Visit the CRA website to learn more.

Tuition Fee Reimbursements

Employees wishing to enroll in a course outside of Langara College may apply for tuition fee reimbursement. Reimbursement requests are only applicable to courses that are career/work-related. Employees should not register until they have received approval from their department budget officer. Reimbursement will be paid out at the end of each course, once the HR Department has verified proof of payment and satisfactory completion.
