On January 12, 2017, six former Langara students were sworn in as new officers with the Vancouver Police Department. The ceremony is significant as it is the point at which new recruits receive their police badges. Langara has a very long history of promoting a spirit of community volunteerism while educating Vancouver Police officers.

From left to right, the new recruit constables are:

Cst. James Rodriquez, Diploma in Recreation Leadership
While a student, James went to Durban, South Africa with a group of volunteers to build a playground for an orphanage.

Cst, Frederike Buchman, Criminal Justice Program 
After Langara, Frederike transferred to SFU complete her B.A. in Criminology. Fluent in German, Frederike volunteers at the Vancouver Dugout Drop-in Centre.

Cst. Mandy Grewal, Arts and Sciences
After Langara, Mandy transferred to UBC to complete her B.A. in Psychology. Fluent in Punjabi, Mandy previously worked with Surrey Fire Department as an administrative assistant.

Cst. Christopher Chan
Christopher attended Langara before transferring to SFU where he will be completing a B.A. in Psychology. A member of the SFU police judo club, Christopher also volunteered at the Collingwood Policing Centre.

Cst. Erin Everall, Diploma in Criminal Justice
Erin completed her Diploma in Criminal Justice at Langara before being hired as a jail guard with the VPD. She also helped coach in the Special Olympics.

Cst. Cord Reisdorf, Marketing and Sales
Cord began in the Physical Education and Arts Program before completing his studies in Marketing and Sales. He then played semi-professional football in Washington State before establishing a successful business as a fitness instructor.
