Q1.

What program are you in?

I originally enrolled in Arts & Science but transferred into BBA, Accounting.

Q2.

Where did you have your co-op work placement?

My placement was through the Disney International College Program. I went to California for a hospitality course and worked in Florida at Disney Epcot in the Food & Beverage Department.

Q3.

What is the biggest takeaway from your co-op experience?

I was able to enjoy life and work experience in another country, and meet people from all over the world.

Q4.

What work are you doing now?

I’m the Finance Coordinator for an organization called Power to Change. I do administration and accounting work. I’m also a volunteer at Collingwood Neighbourhood House.

Q5.

How did your co-op jobs prepare you for the work that you’re doing now?

I learned a lot from the job itself and from other people. I learned how to work in a large and structured organization and I gained confidence. It definitely gave me a great work ethic and taught me how to be more independent. I learned the value of my education and experience for future opportunities.

Q6.

Looking forward, where would you like your career to go?

I’m not 100% clear yet. I really enjoy the non-profit sector because I want to make a difference. I’ll stay in non-profit for now but who knows where that will lead.

Q7.

What would you say to someone who asks you about co-op?

Take co-op because it helps you grow in many different areas of your life, and it is a stepping stone to build your career and network.
