Where did you have your co-op work placement?

I was a Marketing and Special Initiatives Assistant for the Co-op & Career Development Centre at Langara College.

What’s the biggest takeaway from your co-op experience?

My co-op experience taught me how to take ownership. I learned how to not only plan an event from scratch to execution, but how to use my skills and knowledge in marketing to make our first annual event flourish.

What work are you doing now?

I am working in Human Resources as an Administrative Recruiter for Robert Half OfficeTeam.

How did your co-op jobs prepare you for the work that you’re doing now?

My co-op helped me become more organized, effective with my time, and self-sufficient. My co-op position really empowered me to take control in my role and now that I’m more comfortable with that, it helps a lot when I’m working with my candidates.

Looking forward, where would you like your career to go?

I’m looking at going into commercial advertising or social media technology but I haven’t decided yet. Right now I am trying out human resources and so far, it is very interesting and definitely a career I could pursue.

What would you say to someone who asks you about co-op?
