Vancouver, BC - Langara College is pleased to announce the hiring of Tom Flockhart as the new Head Coach of the recently established golf program. The announcement was made today by Jake McCallum, Director of Athletics & Intramurals.
“Tom is a great fit for this position,” said McCallum. “He is enthusiastic, passionate, and brings the type of leadership and expertise that will serve our student-athletes well. We are very excited to have him join our department and lead the program forward.”
Flockhart, a PGA of Canada ‘Class A’ professional at Quilchena Golf and Country Club in Richmond, brings a wealth of experience to the Falcons. He has been a member of the PGA of Canada since 2002 and has a strong background in teaching, coaching, and competing.
“I look forward to the opportunity to share my experience and be a positive influence on our student-athletes. It will be a challenge as a first-year team, but our goal is to qualify for the national championship,” he said.
Flockhart won the Playing Ability Test in 2002 to join the PGA of Canada when he shot 10 under par over two rounds. He also won the Canadian Junior Golf Association (CJGA) Tour Championship in 1996. Flockhart comes to Langara with some experience in the Canadian Colleges Athletic Association (CCAA) as a former member of the Durham College golf team in Oshawa, Ontario, where he studied professional golf management. He brings a passion for the game and he is excited to bring success to the Langara golf team.
