The Langara College Falcons hosted the number one ranked team in the nation last Friday night, the VIU Mariners. Strong defensive play allowed the Falcons to get the victory 76-69. The play of 5th-year guard Dan Hobden (Cowichan, BC) was instrumental as he guarded VIU's best player and hit some timely shots, including a big three-pointer with one minute left to go in the game. Hobden ended the night with 11 points and seven rebounds and a stellar defensive performance. On Saturday, the Falcons faced the Camosun College Chargers and Dan had another strong effort, contributing 10 points to the Falcons 75-62 win. He once again had the task of guarding the opponent's top player and again did a great job. Hobden's weekend numbers were impressive as he shot 50% from the floor and 45% from the three-point line.
