Men's Basketball Athlete of the Week
On Friday night the Langara Falcons made their final trek of the season over to Vancouver Island for match ups with the VIU Mariners and the Camosun College Chargers.
In was a battle of 2 of the league’s 3 giants as the Falcons were visited the home of the Mariners Friday night. The Falcons faced the #3 team in the PACWEST who were 14-4 going into the weekend. Games between these two teams have typically been tight contests and Friday was another example of that. The Falcons battled hard and took a three point lead into halftime 42-39. The second half was more of the same with neither team able to pull away. The Falcons got a great performance from 4th year forward Jitinder Lohcham who poured in 32 points, grabbed 10 rebounds and had 2 blocks. Thanks in large part to Lohcham, the Falcons were able to pull out the win 76-75.
On Saturday the Falcons made the drive from Nanaimo to Victoria and faced off against Camosun in an afternoon tilt. Lohcham came up big for the Falcons again with 18 points and 14 rebounds to go with 2 blocks, and led the way to a Falcons win 84-72. Over the course of the weekend Lohcham shot an impressive 46% from the field and 78% from the line.
Up next for the Falcons is their last league game of the season at Douglas College Friday Feb 21, tip off 8:00 pm
