Jason Sun has dominated in the Men’s singles event throughout the season and this weekend’s CCAA National Championships proved his rank in this event. The 5’ 9” Falcon graduated from Earl Marriott high School and found his way to Langara for his first year. He was recently named a CCAA All-Canadian, Highlights from Sun's rookie season include winning men's singles in the competitive PACWEST conference and being named PACWEST Player of the Year. His tremendous work ethic and dedication helped the Langara Falcons advance in the CCAA national rankings and he's a role model for his teammates. He travelled to Barrie, Ontario, to compete in the National Championships and went 4-1 in the round robin round of the CCAA Nationals. He was eventually defeated in a hard-fought gold medal match by returning MVP Dan Kai. Sun has an overall win-loss record of 40-8 this season.
Langara's Mixed Doubles badminton partners also travelled to Ontario to compete in the National Championships. Ashley Jang and her partner Matt Downton took home provincial gold in the Mixed Doubles event of the PACWEST Provincial Championships. This 1st place finish earned them a trip to Nationals where they went 4-1 in the round robin portion of the championship. They were narrowly defeated in the gold medal match and returned home with silver medals.
