Langara builds strong communities, and as a community the choices we make when it comes to waste management are a reflection of the type of community we want to build up, live in, and pass on to others. We have big goals when it comes to sustainability and in order to reach those goals, we need each and every student and employee to participate in treating our finite resources with respect. Let's start a conversation about recycling, whether it's with your friends, classmates, or peers. Let's see what positive impacts we can create when an entire community cares!

Langara encourages students and employees for help in reducing campus waste. Other post-secondary institutions also have dedicated recycling initiatives, but our goal is to be leaders not followers. We encourage all of our students, faculty and staff to adopt a zero waste approach to waste management, not only on campus, but in all aspects of your lives. Let's work together to keep as much waste out of the landfill as possible. We invite you to ask questions, get involved, and find small and big ways to be waste management stewards.
Recycling made easy.
Our goal is to make recycling on campus easy. We've identified some ways to do this, like improving recycling bin signage and creating opportunities to get involved. In the upcoming fall and winter semesters, we'll be running specific campaigns to raise awareness and help reduce waste on campus. At Langara, we try to incorporate as many different recycling streams as we can. We currently accept organices, mixed containers, refundables, paper, cardboard, soft plastics, e-waste, batteries and glass at our Recycling Station in the A building cafeteria.
Sustainability Ambassadors
We've got a terrific team of volunteer Sustainability Ambassadors to help with sorting and engagement events throughout the year. Look for the team in green. They'll help you to "think outside the trash."
