Langara College Langara College is a member of Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE).

In 2019, the Sustainability Committee received approval from the College leadership to pursue a "STARS" rating. In 2021, we achieved a STARS silver rating, exceeding our bronze milestone. Read our news release >>

The silver rating was earned through such initiatives as our Sustainability Student Ambassadors, our on-campus gardens, environmentally designed structures under the LEED rating system such as our Science and Technology Building, environmental course programming, and energy reducing initiatives including HVAC system upgrades, and alternative energy sources.

The Sustainability Tracking, Assessment and Rating System (STARS) is a self-reporting framework for higher education organizations to measure their sustainability performance. This means collaborating cross-departmentally within our campus to improve current sustainability practices, develop new programming to support sustainability initiatives, and to encourage our community to be more aware about best practices. We look forward to using the STARS framework as a benchmark for continuous improvement.sustainability ambassador
