The Intermediate Research Analyst plays a critical role in providing quantitative and qualitative analysis of data and information for the College. The incumbent is responsible for enrolment modelling, analysing, manipulating and auditing electronic and manual data into a variety of analytic and reporting formats to meet Government and College reporting needs, maintaining specialized databases, developing procedures for the efficient use of data from multiple sources, providing analytics for effective information use to executives and to academic and administrative leaders for strategic planning, accountability reporting, and enrolment management. The Intermediate Research Analyst’s work is highly technical and exercises a high level of independent judgement in data and analytic decision making. As a team, the IR Department provides policy alternatives to assist Senior Management in making policy and strategic decisions.

Qualifications:

Education & Experience

  • Completion of a Bachelor's Degree in one of the quantitative or social sciences subject areas which include subjects such as inferential statistics, research methodology, computer programming and database management courses.
  • At least three years of related experience in designing and conducting social science research or market research and statistical analyses is essential, preferably in an educational environment.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Advanced level in statistical/analytical software such as SPSS , SAS or R, including ability to write scripts.
  • Advanced skill in Microsoft Access, Excel , including ability in Power Pivot, or equivalent software is required.
  • Advanced knowledge of business intelligence (BI) tools such as Tableau, Qlikview, or equivalent.
  • Advanced knowledge of statistical methodology and analysis, survey design and analysis, relational database, and educational evaluation and assessment.
  • Good knowledge of Institutional Research and of post-secondary programs and services.
  • Experience with web authoring and Content Management Systems.
  • Writing Oracle SQL scripts is also required.

  • Ability to upgrade training and skills as technologies and applications develop.
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team—working harmoniously with others.
  • Ability to effectively work with, and provide information and assistance to the public, staff, senior management, and students in a tactful and helpful manner.
  • Ability to explain technical information and concepts about institutional research to non-technical users in oral and written forms.
  • Ability to exercise tact, judgement, and diplomacy.
  • Ability to maintain a degree high of confidentiality.
  • Project management skills – ability to manage a variety of concurrent projects with minimal supervision; problem solving and decision making skills.

Salary Range: $2,019.30 - $2,326.09 Bi-Weekly (Pay Grade 26)

Employee Group: CUPE

Hours & Days of Work: 8:30am - 4:30pm. Monday to Friday, however, hours may vary according to the needs of the department. This position is not subject to the compressed workweek schedule.
