Subject Area: CLST 1120 – Introduction to Roman Civilization

Description of Position:   

One temporary part-time position to coordinate CLST 1120 – Introduction to Roman Civilization and teach the history, culture, and art history sections of the course.  Responsible for invigilating all exams, coordinating the other team members and sections of the class (literature and mythology), calculating and entering grades, maintaining online resources, preparing syllabus and handouts, and working with the Classical Studies coordinator to organize the CLST 1105 lecture series to be held during the class.

Required Qualifications: 

  • Masters or PhD degree in Classical Studies (includes all branches, such as archaeology, philology, history); Classical Studies PhD students with a Masters in a related field will also be considered.
  • Demonstrated post-secondary teaching experience related to the course content. 
  • Available to teach MW 14:30 to 16:20.

A successful history of teaching in a team environment is an asset.

Length of appointment: January 1, 2019 to April 30, 2019

Salary Range: Salary placement is on Langara instructors’ salary scale in accordance with qualifications and experience.
