Job Title: Educational Technology Advisor

Full Time/Part Time: Part-time to Full-time Temporary (Spring 2020 and Summer 2020)

Description of Position:

The Educational Technology Department seeks a qualified candidate to fill a part-time to full-time temporary vacancy.

The Department provides Langara’s faculty and instructional staff with support in technology-enhanced teaching and learning, media production and content management. We facilitate the integration of innovative and practical instructional technologies. The role of an Educational Technology Advisor is to support faculty and instructional staff in the adoption and use of learning technologies to promote student success.

Working closely with other Advisors and reporting to the Chair, Educational Technology, the Advisor will provide support and training to faculty in our core services including Brightspace by D2L, Kaltura MediaSpace, iWeb (Wordpress) and Turnitin. The Advisor will assist faculty in incorporating appropriate teaching and learning technologies and tools into course design and delivery. The advisor will also assist the department in identifying technology needs for classroom, online and mixed-mode courses and testing, piloting and implementing new e-technologies, including those relating to digital media.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • Master’s degree in a related area such as Education or Education Technology
  • 5+ years of post-secondary teaching experience
  • Experience in the design and development of online course materials for educational use at a postsecondary level
  • Proficiency in the use of Brightspace by D2L
  • Familiarity with media creation and editing applications such as the Adobe Creative Cloud suite (or similar)

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Experience with a range of desktop and mobile operating systems and with software applications to create training and/or instructional content
  • Project management experience
  • Familiarity with Office 365
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills working with a diverse group of faculty
  • Ability to work effectively in a team

Length of appointment: January 1, 2020 to August 31, 2020 

Start Date: January 2, 2020

Salary: Salary placement is on Langara instructors’ salary scale in accordance with qualifications and experience.
