Temporary, Part-Time

Subject Area: English as an additional language.

Duration: January 2020 to March 2020 (10 weeks)

Reporting to: Anne-Marie Dussault, Program Coordinator

Description of Position: Instructor for the following 3 courses.

1)        Grammar Solutions: Each class focusses on a different grammatical structure.

2)       Speaking with Confidence (Upper beginner): A course focusing on oral communication for daily activities.  

3)       Accent Reduction: To help students improve their pronunciation in order to become better communicators.

 

Key Responsibilities:

1. Needs assessment.

2. Develops a course outline and revises the course material with the Program Coordinator as required

3. Records student attendance

4. Adheres to the Policies and Procedures of Langara College

5. Establishes and maintains effective relationships with administrators, peers, support staff,

students and the community at large

6. Participates in scheduled meetings and appropriate college-related activities as requested by

the Program Coordinator.

 

Qualifications for this position: Bachelor degree with specialization in TESL (or related field).  Minimum 3 years of experience teaching ESL to adults.

Length of Appointment: each term is 25 hours of classroom teaching (2.5 hours per week). Possibility to renew contract after each term. 3 terms of 10 weeks per year.
