Reporting to the President and as a member of the senior leadership team, the Vice-President has overall responsibility for the development, implementation, review and renewal of the College’s strategic plan. In addition to providing leadership in strategic planning, the Vice-President is also responsible for oversight of activities, operations and initiatives to achieve financial sustainability. The Vice-President is responsible for operations in six key areas: International Education, International Programs, Continuing Studies, Institutional Research, Communications and Marketing and, College Advancement (including Langara College Foundation).
The Vice-President, External Development is responsible for building on the College’s reputation and fostering recognition for the College nationally and internationally. S/he works to strengthen links with institutions and organizations, and to develop community relations and partnerships that support the College’s vision and strategic priorities. The incumbent is responsible for providing leadership and coordination for Langara’s international, non-traditional and revenue-generating educational initiatives; maximizing opportunities locally, nationally, regionally and internationally; and for liaising with and coordinating activities of College Advancement.
The Vice-President is responsible for the planning, development, and implementation of all of the College’s internal and public-facing sponsorship and marketing strategies, marketing communications, international and public relations activities ensuring alignment of those activities with the College’s strategic and operational plans. The Vice-President also provides supports to College Advancement in planning and executing strategies aligned with the priorities of the College Foundation.
Within the institution, the Vice-President provides superior leadership skills and demonstrates organizational awareness, collegiality, and sound decision-making with a focus on building lasting student and community relationships. The ability to build strategic partnerships and ongoing collaboration with industry, government, international partners, philanthropic and nonprofit sectors is essential to this role.
