Located in beautiful Vancouver, BC, Langara College started in 1965 as part of Vancouver City College and in 1970, it opened its West 49th Avenue campus. On April 1, 1994, Langara College was established as an independent public college under the Provincial College and Institute Act. Today, Langara is one of BC's leading undergraduate institutions providing University Studies, Career Studies, and Continuing Studies programs and courses to more than 21,000 students annually.

Offering a breadth of accessible, high-quality programming as well as comprehensive student and employee support services, Langara provides experiential learning opportunities to help students achieve their personal, career, and educational goals. Collaborating with alumni, industry leaders, and the business community to develop and deliver improved educational services, the College continuously seeks efficiencies in teaching, learning, and educational support services through the ongoing improvement and modernization of business processes, IT systems, and physical spaces.

Over the years, Langara has developed an extensive array of certificate, diploma, degree, and post-degree programs that broaden student horizons and train productive and engaged citizens. With over 130 credentials to choose from, including online courses, co-operative education, and degree partnerships, Langara provides an opportunity to its students to live unique, real-world experiences that equip them to succeed at work or further post-secondary study.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the President, the Provost and Vice-President Academic & Students (“Provost”) is the senior academic officer of the College and provides leadership for short and long-term academic planning as well as for the development and overall implementation of College-wide educational, human resources, and fiscal policies pertaining to the academic/regular studies portfolio. The Provost is responsible for advancing the academic mandate of the College through the development and implementation of strategies that promote growth and success in teaching and learning through the integration of library services, program development initiatives, program review/renewal processes, and the application of technology to pedagogy. The Provost provides strategic leadership and direction for the delivery of student support and development services for the College community including registrar and enrollment services, and is responsible for advancing Indigenization of the College and curricula by strengthening relationships with Aboriginal communities, organizations, and other partners.

The Provost leads the College’s strategic response to globalization and internationalization, a process that reflects its core values of excellence, collegiality, innovation, and integrity. Internally in the College, and externally in the community, the Provost is the delegate of the President in the management of regular studies instruction and programming, and acts with that authority.
