Located in beautiful Vancouver, BC, Langara College started in 1965 as part of Vancouver City College and in 1970, it opened its West 49th Avenue campus. On April 1, 1994, Langara College was established as an independent public college under the Provincial College and Institute Act. Today, Langara is one of BC's leading undergraduate institutions providing University Studies, Career Studies, and Continuing Studies programs and courses to more than 21,000 students annually. Offering a breadth of accessible, high-quality programming as well as comprehensive student and employee support services, Langara provides experiential learning opportunities to help students achieve their personal, career, and educational goals. Collaborating with alumni, industry leaders, and the business community to develop and deliver improved educational services, the College continuously seeks efficiencies in teaching, learning, and educational support services through the ongoing improvement and modernization of business processes, IT systems, and physical spaces. The Opportunity

The Dean is the senior academic leader and manager for the Faculty of Nursing (herein referred to as “the Faculty”). Reporting to the Provost and Vice-President Academic and Students, the Dean provides strategic leadership for a mix of career, university transfer, post-degree credentials and baccalaureate programs in the Faculty and promotes and supports activities that advance teaching and learning, as well as emerging scholarship and applied research activities within the area.

The Dean leads the faculty, staff and students in articulating a shared vision, mission and goals for the Faculty. S/he utilizes this strategic framework to allocate resources for the creation and implementation of innovative programs that prepare students to be responsible, productive, informed and reflective citizens, scholars, and creative leaders. Working with Langara’s various academic units as well as its numerous support areas that are important to the effective functioning of the College, the Dean helps to foster a collaborative environment across the campus community. The Dean represents the Faculty on several College committees and to other post-secondary institutions, outside agencies, and organizations. The Dean is supported by a Division Chair and an Academic Administrative Manager.
