The Payment Card Industry (PCI), consisting of all credit card brands and its associated businesses, formed a Security Council that develops and manages the PCI Security Standards. The purpose of the Security Standards is to prevent credit card fraud and identity theft by strengthening controls around card transactions. Organizations that accept card payments, such as Langara, must comply with the standards and be certified as compliant on an annual basis.
