Advertising and Design Certificate Program

Advertising. Design. Art Direction.

The Advertising and Design Certificate Program is designed to train Art Directors and Communication Designers for employment in the advertising, communication design and marketing industry. The main focus of the curriculum is to provide students with in-depth, industry relevant training that fosters solid visual, strategic, conceptual, typographic, problem solving, and technical skills. Throughout their course of study, students will also develop professional skills, including written and oral presentations, teamwork, and project management. This program will explore the most current trends in advertising and communication design. This program will also facilitate student awareness and exploration of new advertising trends and emerging technologies.

The Advertising and Design Program promotes an atmosphere of creative and conceptual thinking. It stimulates and encourages creative process through an evolving curriculum. Students will learn tools and techniques for idea generating and brainstorming to apply through different mediums—advertisement concepts for print or interactive media, branding strategies, product packaging, etc.

Upon completion, graduates will be able to identify and demonstrate skills in print and digital applications, including: layout and composition, interface and usability, typography, art direction, idea generation and concept development, historical references, and marketing and branding strategies.

This program is part-time, self-directed study. Students can complete the program in as little as 1.5 years, or longer, as they study part-time according to the flexibility of their schedule. All classes are held on evenings and weekends.
