The StrongerBC future skills grant empowers British Columbians to shape their own futures. The grant covers up to $3,500 for eligible short-term skills training.

Withdrawal Policy 
The deadline to withdraw is 24 hours prior to the first day of the first course in the program. Programs withdrawn by this deadline will not be claimed from your total StrongerBC lifetime amount. You will be able to use the funds to register for other programs by submitting an updated registration form.

After this deadline, the full amount of the program will be deducted from your $3,500 lifetime amount. If you wish to withdraw from subsequent courses in the program after the first course has begun, you may register in additional courses running during the 2024/5 academic year that meet the program requirements at no additional cost by submitting an updated registration form. Course withdrawal requests must be submitted no later than 24 hours prior to the start of the course.

After the start of your first course, program costs will not be refunded to your Stronger BC future skills grant lifetime amount except in extraordinary circumstances. In such cases, a request must be submitted in writing to futureskills@langara.ca. Refund requests are reviewed on a case-by-case basis by the College and will be authorized at the College's sole discretion.

New to the 2024/5 academic year, students using the StrongerBC future skills grant must complete their chosen program within 52 weeks from the program start date. When you register with StrongerBC future skills grant, the entire cost will be deducted from your $3,500 lifetime amount.

You should also understand that:
  • FSG benefits may have tax implications

  • The FSG is subject to a lifetime maximum of $3,500

  • If you are receiving any federal or provincial benefit, such as Employment Insurance (EI) or BC Employment Assistance (BCEA), you must seek approval from the appropriate government body before participating in a program

  • The amount of FSG funding you receive is subject to review and audit.
